Kenneth Cole Names Soles4Souls as Change Agent for aWEARness Campaign March 2010
Shoe Retailer to collect shoes and funds to benefit victims of Haitian Earthquake
New York, NY (March 1, 2010) – Kenneth Cole (www.kennethcole.com) will make Soles4Souls the beneficiary of a major shoe drive in March as part of their aWEARness campaign to provide relief to the people of Haiti.
Kenneth Cole will help collect footwear to support Soles4Souls’ commitment to donate more than 1.3 million pairs of shoes to affected areas. Beginning March 8th through March 31st, customers at Kenneth Cole’s more than 100 stores (including Kenneth Cole outlet retailers) will have the opportunity to drop off a gently worn pair of shoes. All donations will directly support relief efforts. In addition, Kenneth Cole will offer a 20% discount off an entire purchase with the donation of any brand of shoes or monetary contribution. This March will mark the 20th year of Kenneth Cole’s annual national shoe drive. To date, Kenneth Cole has collected over 1.5 million pairs of shoes.
Soles4Souls has partnered with organizations on the ground in Haiti to transport and distribute the aid. More than 120,000 pairs of shoes, including work boots, rain boots, children’s athletic shoes and clothing items, have already been distributed in Haiti.
“We are grateful to our friends at Kenneth Cole for offering the public an opportunity to get involved with the relief efforts in Haiti,” said Wayne Elsey, Founder and CEO of Soles4Souls. “The donations collected will help survivors and relief aid works begin to filter through the rubble rebuild their lives.”
The death toll from January’s quake continues to rise, and survivors and rescuers are facing dire health conditions including broken glass, twisted metal and raw sewage.
