Mall to Offer Family Friendly Activities and Music on April 24
Throughout the month of March and April, shoppers across the country dropped off their old stilettos and loafers at their local malls before picking up news ones. From March 20 through April 16, shoppers at the more than 80 CBL malls nationwide commemorated Earth Month by recycling their shoes. Soles4Souls and CBL are hosting a one day event at Cool Springs Mall from 12:00-3:30 pm on Saturday, April 24th to celebrate the success of the recycling campaign. The event includes family-friendly activities like face painting, food, and live music with performances by Tiffany Johnson, Jaclyn North, and Clara Oman.
With an estimated 300 million pairs of shoes ending up in US landfills each year, and the more than 300 million children in the world who don’t own a single pair, the idea of recycling shoes for a cause is what motivated the partnership. Soles4Souls, the international shoe charity dedicated to giving shoes to people in need, has given away more than 8.5 million pairs of shoes.
Shoes collected during the nationwide campaign are being distributed to people in need in communities across the US in support of Soles4Souls. CBL and Soles4Souls are encouraging shoppers to bring their shoes to the event on Saturday to ‘fill the Smart car,’ which will be parked inside the mall to collect shoes.
