Muddy Buddy Nashville Is An Outdoor Adventure
The Columbia Muddy Buddy Ride and Run is coming to Tennessee. Registration is still open for the Saturday, May 22 event, which invites teams of two to take on a challenging course on foot and bike. The muddy event is a must-see visual stunner. Teammates encounter obstacles at each of the six miles along the course and then wade through the infamous mud pit crossing the finish line together. The event begins at 8:00 am.
“We’re excited to bring some outdoor fun to Nashville,” said Bob Babbitt, founder of the Columbia Muddy Buddy Series. “It’s an event that doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s all about fun and taking on a challenge with someone you love.”
Teams of two will leap frog throughout the course, with one teammate running while the other bikes each mile of the course. After each mile, both participants will scale an obstacle before switching activities and continuing for another mile. After the last mile of the course, participants make their way through a forty-foot mud pit and finish together.
At the event, Columbia will partner with local Nashville charity, Soles4Souls, to collect used shoes from participants and for every pair donated, Columbia will match by donating another pair of shoes. In addition, Columbia has donated over 375 pounds of footwear to Soles4Souls for distribution specifically to Nashville’s flood victims.
As a special charity component to all Columbia Muddy Buddy events, the CAF Muddy Buddy Challenge, Presented by Land Rover Certified Pre-Owned, encourages participants to raise money for the Challenged Athletes Foundation through online fundraising. Columbia Muddy Buddy registrants receive a custom fundraising page to help them raise money for CAF before the event. The funds raised enable CAF to grant a $2,500 hand cycle to a child born with Spina Bifida, underwrite a carbon fiber running foot for an athlete that wants to run their first 10K or provide specialized training for an injured military service member to participate in their sport
It wouldn’t be a proper mud race without the kids getting muddy too. The Columbia Mini Muddy Buddy will take place in conjunction with the Sunday morning event. At 10:30 am, hundreds of kids will complete a short obstacle course and then plunge through the same mud pit as their parents. Five dollars of every registration for the Columbia Mini Muddy Buddy will go to benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation. At each Columbia Muddy Buddy event, at least one Challenged Athlete will compete and represent CAF’s mission of enabling physically challenged individuals to lead a healthy, active lifestyle.
The Columbia Muddy Buddy will take place Saturday, May 22 at the Cheatham Wildlife Management Area in Nashville, TN.

Challenged Athletes Foundation
The Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) is a world leader in helping individuals with physical challenges get involved – and stay involved – in sports. CAF believes that participation in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence and enhances quality of life. Since 1994, more than $24 million has been raised and almost 4,000 funding requests from challenged athletes in all 50 states and dozens of countries have been satisfied. Additionally, CAF’s outreach efforts reach another 60,000 individuals each year. Whether it’s a $2,500 grant for a hand cycle, helping underwrite a carbon fiber running foot not covered by insurance, or arranging enthusiastic encouragement from a mentor who has triumphed over a similar challenge, CAF’s mission is clear: give those with the desire to live active, athletic lifestyles every opportunity to compete in the sports they love.
