2010 “Jeff Fisher & Friends” Charity Softball Game
Due to recent flooding in downtown Nashville and the surrounding circumstances beyond our control, the May 22th Comcast "Jeff Fisher & Friends" Charity Softball Game event has been rescheduled for June 13th.
Comcast proudly announces the 2010 Comcast “Jeff Fisher & Friends” Charity Softball Game, set for June 13 at 7pm at Greer Stadium.
Pinnacle Financial Partners joins the event as the presenting sponsor. The event benefits Soles4Souls, the Nashville Children’s Alliance, Mercy Ministries, Catch-A-Dream and several other local charities. Now in its tenth year, the event has raised over $450,000 to date.
Gates open at 5pm, and parking is free, provided by the Tennessee Titans and Allstate Insurance. Early arrivals can watch pregame activities, including an exhibition game played by the Little League Softball Clubs and the “Hit It out of the Park” contest between NFL players. The Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital Fun Zone, supported by Tum-E Yummies, is located at the main gate of Greer Stadium. It is packed with brand-new games including a trampoline bounce, a Velcro wall, an inflatable jump slide and a speed pitch. The Fun Zone is primarily geared toward children ages 12 and under. However, the speed pitch is open to fans of all ages. The inflatable jump slide is free and the rest of the games charge a nominal fee. The Fun Zone remains open from the time gates open until the end of the seventh inning. The evening will be capped off with a dazzling fireworks display sponsored by Bridgestone and Best-One.
“The game is an opportunity for us to give back to the community as well as offering the fans and their families a chance to see our players and coaches in a casual and fun environment,” says Fisher, whose record is 7-1-1 over Special Teams Coach Alan “Music City Miracle” Lowry. “The players enjoy a night out competing with their teammates and look forward to the event — the locker room ribbing goes on all year long.”
Past “Friends” have included Kerry Collins, Kyle Vanden Bosch, Vince Young, Chris Hope, Cortland Finnegan, David Thornton, Michael Griffin, Jevon Kearse, Kevin Mawae, Chris Henry, Eddie George, Craig Hentrich, Rob Bironas, Keith Bulluck and many more.
The Nashville-based charity Soles4Souls Inc., a global organization dedicated to providing free footwear to people in need all over the world, will be conducting a shoe drive at the game to benefit the victims of the Haiti earthquake. Soles4Souls is asking for your “gently worn” shoes to help make a difference in someone else’s life.
General admission is $10 and reserved seats are $15. Kids 12 and under can get in for $6. Tickets are on sale now through the Nashville Sounds ticket office, at nashvillesounds.com or by calling 615-690-HITS (4487). Show your Kroger Plus card or military or student ID and get $1 off.
