Case Study: Aaron Brown, Weichert Real Estate

Wayzata, Minnesota real estate agent Aaron Brown recently spearheaded a shoe donation drive to help those in need around the world as part of Soles4Souls.

After hearing about Soles4Souls through the NALA’s cause marketing program, Aaron Brown and the staff at Weichert, Realtors-Advantage collected over 1,500 pairs of shoes.

The secret to their successful shoe drive? Social AND local media! The group received media attention from local news sources and posted on Facebook, inviting locals to drop gently used shoes at their participating offices.

The local community rallied behind Aaron and his staff. The team even received an allotment of gently used shoes from a local student that hosted a shoe and food drive at his high school.

Aaron’s staff also got involved by cleaning out their closets, adding to the grand total.

“It’s not just handing out free shoes,” said Aaron Brown. “Soles4Souls actually helps people with business experience. This seemed much more sustainable to me.”

Aaron Brown and his team liked the Soles4Souls initiative because it got their local community involved, helping those in need on an international level. By simply donating a few pairs of shoes, their local community could help in places as far away as Haiti and Sierra Leone.

Giving a hand up vs. a handout through Soles4Souls’ micro-enterprise model was very inspiring for the team, knowing they were part of creating long-term solutions to global poverty.
