Vice President, Development

Soles4Souls Mission: Soles4Souls (S4S) creates sustainable jobs and provides relief through the distribution of shoes and clothing around the world.

Summary: The Vice President of Development is responsible for leading and managing Soles4Souls’ development function and its staff to increase philanthropic activity at Soles4Souls. The VP Development will lead a growing team while bringing an entrepreneurial spirit to helping drive effective fundraising results for Soles4Souls. The VP Development will serve as a passionate representative of Soles4Souls and its mission.

In addition to leading core aspects of Soles4Souls development function, the VP Development will build and maintain a national portfolio of 75-100 donors with an emphasis on donors with the ability to make gifts of $50,000+. The VP Development provides coaching to Soles4Souls leadership and leadership to major gift staff in the identification, qualification, strategic engagement, solicitation, and highly personalized stewardship of key prospects

Primary Responsibilities:

Management of S4S’s Development function

  • Develops and leads Soles4Souls’ philanthropic strategy including engagement with individual, corporate, and foundation donors

  • Works closely with Chief Marketing Officer to advance an integrated fundraising strategy including direct and digital fundraising

  • Establishes fundraising performance metrics, monitor results, and evaluate the efficacy of development efforts

  • Works with Chief Financial Officer to set and achieve fiscal year fundraising goals

  • Oversees the development of written proposals, informational materials, and other collateral to secure major gifts, including proposals to corporations and foundations.

  • Travels as needed to key regional areas for cultivation and solicitation of major and lead gift prospects.

  • Manages/supervises and develops a growing development team and work closely with outside fundraising counsel where applicable

  • Trains and coaches Soles4Souls leadership and staff on effective fundraising policies and practices

  • Works closely with the Chief Marketing Officer to support the Soles4Souls Board’s Marketing and Development Committee

  • Oversees processes around management and utilization of Soles4Souls donor database

  • Advances the overall culture of philanthropy within the organization

  • Embraces and passionately advocate for the Soles4Souls mission

  • Serves in a leadership role for the organization, working closely with senior leadership to advance key organizational priorities

Fundraising Activity

  • Builds and manage a national portfolio of 75-100 donors with an emphasis on donors with the capacity to make a gift of $50,000+

  • Spends considerable time visiting with and stewarding donors as an extension of Soles4Souls Executive Team

  • Identifies new potential individual, corporate, and foundation donors

  • Provides strategic assistance to senior leadership and development staff in relation to fundraising and prospect engagement

Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities:

  • 7-plus years of professional experience in a nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in a development function managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree with advanced degree preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead people and initiatives

  • A strong entrepreneurial spirit and demonstrated effectiveness in growing fundraising or similar programs

  • Preferred experience with social services and/or international non-profit organizations

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships

  • Expert knowledge of all aspects of fundraising concepts, techniques, and procedures

  • Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority

Texas – Regional Donation Center Warehouse Coordinator

Soles4Souls Mission:  Soles4Souls (S4S) creates sustainable jobs and provides relief through the distribution of shoes and clothing around the world.

Summary:  The Texas Regional Donation Center (RDC) Warehouse Coordinator is responsible for overseeing product processing and volunteer operations in the Texas Regional Donation Center. The position includes communicating all transportation and shipping needs both to and from the RDC. This location is in a shared warehouse so this also requires someone that upholds a friendly and professional relationship with the warehouse partners.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Greet, support, and motivate shoe drive volunteers when coordinating and assisting with drop-offs
  • Serve as a public face for S4S in the RDC by interacting with staff, donors, and volunteers with a high level of professionalism and service
  • Communicate an in-depth knowledge of S4S’ mission & operations
  • Supervise most volunteer groups and individuals working at RDC location
  • Provide a fun and memorable experience to all S4S donors and volunteers
  • Assist the RDC Manager in coordinating volunteers using various outlets, shoe pairing, truck loading and additional activities
  • Respond/schedule individual volunteer inquiries & assist RDC manager with group scheduling
  • Maintain trash and recycling
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked warehouse free from hazards
  • Order all supplies and keep a specific log of costs for the warehouse P&L statement
  • Serve as lead staff on monthly truck loading days includes loading 25,000 lbs of shoes with assist from Director of Operations, Texas
  • Control and manage inventory maintaining high levels of accuracy in day-to-day operations and weekly reporting to Director of Operations, Texas
  • Assist with prep work and count of physical end of year and midyear inventory
  • Coordinate, arrange logistics, and perform larger pickups of shoes and needed supplies from surrounding cities
  • Provide impeccable & reliable customer service to donors, volunteers, and visitors who come to the RDC
  • Report all warehouse maintenance, up-keep, and repairs to the VP, Product Management
  • Operate forklift
  • Keep blue bins presentable & help keep relationship with bin hosts
  • Operate and maintain maintenance of work vehicles

Other Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in agency, team and department meetings as assigned; adhere to all agency policies and protocols
  • Work alongside Texas Director to plan, schedule, and lead volunteer groups
  • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President, Product Management

Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities:

  • Outgoing personality with a knowledge and passion for the Soles4Souls mission and microenterprise
  • Ability to multitask while staying organized, excellent time management skills
  • Volunteer management background preferred; ability to educate and excite potential donors and volunteers
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills; flexibility is critical since this is a new and growing position
  • Ability to build & maintain strong relationships; adapt to donor needs and energize donors in partnerships
  • Ability to think independently & critically with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong work ethic is essential coupled with dependable delivery of quality results
  • Current driver’s license incumbent upon driving mid-sized transportation vehicles for shoe pickups; additionally, use of personal vehicle may be needed for shoe pick-ups

Colorado – Regional Donation Center Warehouse Coordinator

Summary: The Colorado Regional Donation Center (RDC) Warehouse Coordinator is responsible for overseeing product processing, warehouse organization and assists with volunteer operations in the Colorado Regional Donation Center.
