Warehouse Manager - Richmond, VA

The Warehouse Manager at the Regional Donation Center in Richmond, VA is responsible for overseeing all product processing, inventory management and volunteer operations in the Regional Donation Center. The position includes communicating all transportation and shipping needs both to and from the RDC.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support and motivate shoe drive volunteers when they drop-off
  • Serve as the public face for S4S in the RDC
  • Communicate an in-depth knowledge of S4S’ mission & operations.
  • Have a thorough understanding of volunteer needs for S4S throughout the state
  • Assist the Director of Operations in coordinating volunteers using various outlets; cultivate and retain to help with pick-ups, shoe pairing, truck loading and additional activities.
  • Adapt to donor’s/volunteer’s personality, ideas and philanthropic vision to provide a fun and memorable experience with S4S.
  • Ensure protocols and operations are followed in accordance with S4S volunteer policies and procedures
  • Maintain facilities related duties to stay OSHA compliant
  • Manage the Amazon RTW team including coordinating, administrative duties such as time-cards and acting as the point person to the Amazon RTW program
  • Manage Adopt-a-Bin volunteer program to ensure they are maintained to a standard
  • Occasional pick-ups throughout the state when volunteers are not available
  • Control and manage inventory maintaining high levels of accuracy in day-to-day operations
  • Responsible for updating and managing RDC-VA inventory system daily
  • Maintain existing systems for processing and documenting product
  • Provide impeccable & reliable customer service to donors who come to the RDC
  • Conduct tours with existing and potential supporters on occasion
  • Maintain an organized & well-documented warehouse
  • Oversee all trucking needs
  • Operate forklift and pallet jack

Other Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in agency, team and department meetings as assigned; adhere to all agency policies and protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned by the VP of Product Management and Director of Operations

Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities:

  • Outgoing personality with a knowledge and passion for the Soles4Souls mission and microenterprise.
  • Ability to multitask while staying organized; excellent time management skills.
  • Volunteer management background preferred; ability to educate and excite potential donors and volunteers
  • Strong decision-making and problem solving skills; flexibility is critical since this is a new and growing position.
  • Ability to build & maintain strong relationships; adapt to donor needs and energize donors in partnerships.
  • Ability to learn and use multiple database systems.
  • Ability to think independently & critically with an entrepreneurial spirit since position is remote.
  • Strong work ethic is essential coupled with dependable delivery of quality results.
  • Current driver’s license incumbent upon driving mid-sized transportation vehicles for shoe pickups.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs & comfortable with major warehouse maintenance.

Chief Operating Officer

Our goal is to create $1 billion in economic impact by 2030, which will be achieved by optimizing our free distribution and micro-enterprise operations. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) plays a direct role in our success, helping our team to increase our shoe and apparel distribution efforts while achieving revenue and net income targets.


The COO oversees our earned income operations, playing a critical role at Soles4Souls as a member of a high-performing, experienced executive team made up of a Chief Financial Officer, Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Business Development Officer, all of whom report to the CEO.

The COO is a linchpin to our success, striking a balance between efficient, effective and profitable business operations and the S4S’ mission to disrupt the cycle of poverty around the world. Focused on maximizing our impact, the COO and her/his team are responsible for the processing, distribution and monetization of more than 5 million pairs of new and used shoes and another 5 million pieces of apparel/accessories through a global network of S4S staffed regional donation centers plus corporate partner warehouses, distribution centers, 3PLs and other channels.

Working closely with the CEO, the COO is continuously striving to optimize the mix of free distribution of footwear/apparel and the revenue-generating microenterprise program to create the greatest economic impact possible. She/he is responsible for our 2030 economic impact target, in addition to interim annual targets and managing the 70% of total income generated from earned revenue activities.

Candidate Profile

To ensure success, the COO must embody S4S’ four core values: transparency, entrepreneurship, accountability, meaningfulness. Top candidates will be exemplary leaders, have excellent business acumen and demonstrate sound understanding of business strategies.

Knowledge and awareness of the current state of global politics and economics is essential, as the COO must be adept at building relationships and working with and in various cultures around the world. She/he must produce high output while maintaining a commitment to the balance between our mission and business results.

In addition, the ideal candidate will possess strong writing and presentation skills, attention to detail, and the qualities of a holistic team leader. She/he knows when to lead, when to follow and when to collaborate, particularly as a key member of the executive team that supports the S4S Board and Program Committee.


  • Meet and/or exceed economic impact targets of $64mm/$71mm/$78mm in the next three years
  • Distribute at least 50% of total footwear and apparel volume through S4S’ free and direct channels by 2023
  • Deepen direct microenterprise partnerships in existing countries and expand direct microenterprise partnerships to additional countries in sub-Saharan Africa by 2023
  • Deliver profitable, double-digit growth of total microenterprise revenue
  • Grow, develop and support Programs Committee of the Board
  • Develop cohesive operations team of +/-30 with strong VP leadership


  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred)
  • 7+ years in logistics management - domestic and international
  • 7+ years in retail or e-commerce – footwear and/or apparel industry a plus
  • Demonstrated experience with P&L and cashflow management
  • Prior experience leading distributed teams
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in not-for-profit involvement a plus
