S4S is an equal opportunity employer – CRA 1964 and ADA 1990. We actively seek candidates from diverse backgrounds.
Our goal is to create $1 billion in economic impact by 2030, which will be achieved by optimizing our free distribution and micro-enterprise operations. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) plays a direct role in our success, helping our team to increase our shoe and apparel distribution efforts while achieving revenue and net income targets.
The COO oversees our earned income operations, playing a critical role at Soles4Souls as a member of a high-performing, experienced executive team made up of a Chief Financial Officer, Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Business Development Officer, all of whom report to the CEO.
The COO is a linchpin to our success, striking a balance between efficient, effective and profitable business operations and the S4S’ mission to disrupt the cycle of poverty around the world. Focused on maximizing our impact, the COO and her/his team are responsible for the processing, distribution and monetization of more than 5 million pairs of new and used shoes and another 5 million pieces of apparel/accessories through a global network of S4S staffed regional donation centers plus corporate partner warehouses, distribution centers, 3PLs and other channels.
Working closely with the CEO, the COO is continuously striving to optimize the mix of free distribution of footwear/apparel and the revenue-generating microenterprise program to create the greatest economic impact possible. She/he is responsible for our 2030 economic impact target, in addition to interim annual targets and managing the 70% of total income generated from earned revenue activities.
To ensure success, the COO must embody S4S’ four core values: transparency, entrepreneurship, accountability, meaningfulness. Top candidates will be exemplary leaders, have excellent business acumen and demonstrate sound understanding of business strategies.
Knowledge and awareness of the current state of global politics and economics is essential, as the COO must be adept at building relationships and working with and in various cultures around the world. She/he must produce high output while maintaining a commitment to the balance between our mission and business results.
In addition, the ideal candidate will possess strong writing and presentation skills, attention to detail, and the qualities of a holistic team leader. She/he knows when to lead, when to follow and when to collaborate, particularly as a key member of the executive team that supports the S4S Board and Program Committee.
