Join us for National Go Barefoot Day on June 1st!

Essential. We’ve heard that word a lot recently.

Here’s another essential that you may not have thought of: Shoes.

The truth is, most of us take for granted that we have our essential needs met—like shoes. We hardly give a thought to our footwear, other than maybe choosing from among several pairs. But so many people across the U.S. and around the world have inadequate shoes, and a staggering number don’t have any at all.

Here’s the reality:

– There’s power in a pair of shoes—to go to school or work and break the cycle of poverty.

– There’s protection in a pair of shoes—from injury and disease.

– And there’s purpose in a pair of shoes—restoring dignity and shoring up hope.

We don’t tend to think about shoes like that, do we?

That’s why on National Go Barefoot Day, we invite you to spend a whole day in someone else’s lack of shoes.

Do something—anything—barefoot. Take your dog for (yet another) walk. Pull weeds from your garden. Draw a hopscotch course on your driveway. Use your imagination!

Shoot a photo or video of your barefoot-ness, and share it on social media with #gobarefootday.

Challenge your friends and family to play along, too!

Feel a bit squeamish about going shoeless? We get it. Make a donation instead to help provide a brand new pair of shoes to someone in need.
